Imagine – you have lost the ability to explain what you wanted, how you really felt. You can hear the words in your mind, but they won’t come out of your mouth correctly. You had no voice! Your right side has stopped working. You feel as if you have been cut in half. You feel like you are spiraling down a hole into nowhere… That is what happened to Kathi Peters a little over two years ago when she suffered an Ischemic stroke and her life changed. But through it all, one, most vital voice still could be heard. She could still paint! Peters has been described as a master of contemporary realism. With paintings that primarily depict the world of the horse, this body of work explains metaphorically the struggles and triumphs of the process of stroke and recovery. Exhibited works were completed between 2006 and the present. Peters works in Casein, a venerable medium that not many artists use today. Paintings in this exhibit range from academic depictions of the horse to more expressive interpretations through the use of color and composition. Peters’ award winning art has hung in museums throughout the United States, including the Museum of the Horse in Lexington, Kentucky. A portion of all sales from this exhibit will go to the National Stroke Foundation. |
